Overview Philosophy of Family Portraiture

The most important concept of creating portraits is that the photographer is capturing how people feel, more than how they look. So, it is important that everyone be in a good frame of mind. It is unproductive to pressure family members to smile, so leave that up to the photographer. I will have a humorous talk with everyone before we start taking Portraits, and this will break the ice, and everyone will relax. If you have small children, my recommendation is that you bring a babysitter with you to keep the children occupied while we set up the family group, especially if this is an “Extended Family.” Since children have such short attention spans, it is important that they be kept occupied doing some thing else, until right before we pop them into the group. I will have played with them, so they will see that I like them, and will get them to giggle. When they are “popped” into the group, I ask that the adults look at me instead of the kids and I will then, be the “clown” that gets the kids to giggle, as they will wondering what this “Nut” is going to do next. Trust me, this works.

Family Portrait Session

This is our “Top of the Line” session and we cover “All The Bases”. Covering all the bases means that we do any combination of groups or individuals you want. Such as, The Whole Family, The Kids as a Group, and Mom and Dad as a Couple. If we are doing The Extended Family, we again do any logical groupings.

There are 2 ways to see the images. If there is time, we show you the images immediately on a TV, so you can get an idea of how the images look. Then the images are put online for you to take the time to select your images.

For peace of mind, we can now offer “Head Swaps” to insure that everyone looks good in the Portraits. If someone looks bad in your favorite image, we can take their face from another image and “swap” it with the good one. With this session, we only charge what the lab charges us to do a “swap”. See an example of this with the little guy in the photo above.

Ordering is done from the “Family Flex Price List” on purple paper. The session cost is $20 per person with a maximum of $160. Look for the Family Flex Prices on this site.

The Family Portrait program can also be done “On Location.” The Location fee is $100 with in a radius of 20 miles, and $150 with in a 50 mile radius.

family1Family Club

This is our affordable line of family portraits, and is similar to Kids Club. Family Club is only for immediate family groups, as we cannot change the lighting or the set up. Each family photographed on a particular day will have the same background and will be able to see the photos immediately, since these are done with digital photography. There is no session fee, and each family starts with a package of 1-8×10, 2-5×7s, and 8 wallets. The cost is $80.00. Additional sheets are $20.00 each if ordered that day.
